This page is being maintained for legacy purposes, but not for long anymore.

Members of the Sterrekundig Instituut Utrecht who are abroad can check their personal e-mail accounts through one of two Web interfaces.

The interface to be used is determined by the setup of your Institute e-mail account: IMAP or POP3.

When, at the SIU, you use MS Outlook (NOT Outlook Express!) as your e-mail programme on your PC, your account is set up for the IMAP protocol. From abroad you should use the IMAP Web interface, accessible through the link below.

When, at the SIU, you use Pine, Elm, or Mutt as your e-mail programme on your Unix workstation, then your account is set up for the POP3 protocol. From abroad you should use the POP3 Web interface, accessible through the link below.

POP3 Web interface

Click the appropriate Web interface and enter your credentials as requested.

Please log out from your Web e-mail session through the LOGOUT BUTTON of the Web e-mail interface. This is to make sure that users of a public PC after you cannot trace your credentials (username, password) or e-mail content (IE or Netscape history).

Please note that personal folder arrangements, in which you keep your e-mail organized, are not available through the Web: they reside on the local disk of your MS Windows PC or Unix workstation.

These Web interfaces can only be used by staff and students of the Astronomical Institute at Utrecht University, The Netherlands, to check their Institute e-mail accounts. To check e-mail accounts with other Internet Service Providers, please visit the appropriate Web sites, e.g. Hotmail.
