Bloody Idiots Silent Death
ASP scientistMany a space battle has been fought by us using the Silent Death rules. During the years we put some things on paper (computer) to help us in our games. Last update was at: 16 June 2000.

Multi-weapon fire

How often have you been in doubt whether to fire all those weapons and take the multi-weapon fire penalry or just shoot one weapon with a greater chance to hit? After reading the Fighter Tactics Manual I decided to find out once and for all and wrote a little program to determine the expected damage from different weapons. Expected damage is the chance to hit multiplied by the average damage if it would have hit that DV (all possible damage modifiers included).
The first row shows the DV, second row shows the optimum expected damage if the DV is equal for both weapons (thus the highest number of the combined weapons and the two individual weapons, nice for quick comparision with other weapon systems) and the third row shows the expected damage for the first weapon (if single fired), the first and second columns show the DV and expected damage for the weapon weapon (of single fired). The other numbers shown are the expected damage for the two given DV (because DV (or to hit penalties) can differ per weapon due to Speed restrictions and range differences. The second table give the same first and second columns and rows, but the other numbers are now -1,1 or 2. A 2 indicates that with those given DV's the most expected damage can be inflicted if both weapons are fired. A 1 indicates that for best results only the first (top) weapon should be fired, while a -1 means that the second (column) weapon should be used.
From now on a simple look at these tables will tell you which weapon(s) to fire! They are simple ASCII files, easily converted into whatever format you prefer.

Random Pilots

Hate those 7/7 pilots everyone uses when generating their own forces? So we generated some random pilots for use when you want to make your own forces but have more 'realistic' pilots and gunners. In the file below are 500 numbered pilots, when you need more simply e-mail.
